Overview of the academic programme
The BTS Nursing academic programme teaches students about the functions of relations and communications, of techniques in management of demands and the needs of the patient, in the organisation and the promotion of the organisation's activities, and in the organisation of management and the place and work of teams. Graduates of the BTS in Nursing programme should be able to analyse the needs of the patients, know the full range of services that they offer, staffing needs, to coordinate work schedules and responsibilities and do general administrative work.
Degree awarded
Upon successful completion of all course requirements, the student is awarded with a BTS Nursing degree (a state-sanctioned degree equivalent to "Bac+2").
Career possibilities for those who have earned a BTS in Nursing degree
The holder of a BTS Nursing degree will exercise his/her job in different public or private organisations:
- Social welfare organisations (social welfare agencies, non-profit/for-profit health insurance firms, institutions involved in prevention ...)
- Firms providing health care services: (Hospitals and health clinics, clinics involved in prevention...)
- Firms providing social welfare / educational services (centers for social welfare/ socio-medical/ and youth-protection out-reach programmes ...)
- Firms providing socio-medical services (for children, elderly people, people with disabilities....) Firms or organisations offering health and/or social welfare related services (local or regional public services, private sector associations and firms involved in providing health care...).
Academic programme of the BTS in Nursing
- Knowledge of the various institutions and health provider networks (understanding of the structure of a hospital or health clinic, social welfare organisation, socio-medical and social welfare organisations).
- Knowledge of the public-at-large (ie. the potential patient) (socio-demographic context, socio-psychological elements, connections/relations between the public-at-large and public institutions involved in health care).
- Knowledge of the variety of services offered
- Techniques in information (storing/ retrieval...) and communication.
- Employee relations and Human Resources management techniques
- Techniques in Administrative and Financial management
- Nursing: responsibilities and applied techniques
