Internships longer than three months
Salary
Icoges students who do an internship while enrolled in an academic program are able to earn a salary representing approximately 30% of the SMIC (the SMIC is the minimum monthly salary as determined by the French government). In such a case, Icoges and the employer at which the internship is carried out are required to formally agree, in advance, to such an arrangement. The student/intern maintains a legal status of student in such a case. Finally, the employer is not required to pay most taxes and fees relating to the employment of the student/intern in such a case, and agrees to pay the majority of his/her tuition costs.
Financing
The employer might wish to finance these tuition costs out of the firm’s budget for ‘continuing education’ (also called ‘adult education’).
